On January 7, FBI Victim Specialist Karen Gale spoke to over 250 parents and community members about Internet safety and ways to protect children from the dangers and consequences that can occur via technology.

Her message to families was a straightforward one – it is important for parents and family members to monitor their child’s technology usage and have open conversations with them about it.

Many have asked for resources on this topic, which we are pleased to share:

Second, Karen recommended www.netsmartz.org, a site with comprehensive Internet safety resources for parents, teens, tweens and kids. The site, a service of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, has age-appropriate resources, videos and games on a variety of Internet safety topics.

We hope you take some time to review these resources and use those you find helpful. Most importantly,we hope you will continue to engage in conversation with your student about the appropriate use of technology.
