Katherine Hannigan

Katherine Hannigan, a New York Times best-selling author, will speak to students at Audubon Elementary School about writing and illustrating at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 21.

Raised in western New York and now living in Iowa, Hannigan is the author of “Ida B…and Her Plans to Maximize Fun, Avoid Disaster and (Possibly) Save the World,” “Emmaline and the Bunny,” and “True (…Sort Of).” Both a New York Times and Book Sense best-seller, “Ida B…” is the recipient of a Parent’s Choice Gold Award and has appeared on more than 30 state award lists.

Hannigan holds undergraduate degrees in education and secondary mathematics, as well as painting, and a graduate degree in studio art. She has worked as the education coordinator for a Head Start program and, most recently, as an assistant professor of art and design.
