The Dubuque Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Coby Culbertson as the district’s new director of technology. The appointment was approved by the Board of Education at its September 16 meeting. His start date is to be determined.

Culbertson comes to the Dubuque Community School District from his current position as director of technology for the Western Dubuque Community School District, where he has served since 2000. In this role, he has served on the Superintendent’s Cabinet and provided leadership for short- and long-term technology initiatives throughout the K-12 district.

“We are confident that Coby’s experience and skills working as a director of technology in a K-12 school district will make him a tremendous asset to our leadership team,” said Superintendent of Schools Stan Rheingans. “He understands how to implement district-wide technology initiatives and is energetic about making technology an integral part of the educational experience.”

Prior to working at Western Dubuque, Coby was a PC/network support specialist for the Dubuque Community School District, a system/network administrator at Carnegie-Stout Public Library and a computer operator at the Finley Hospital.

“I am excited to join the Dubuque Community School District team and I look forward to helping bring the district’s technology vision to life,” said Culbertson.

Culbertson holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, holds membership in the Iowa Technology and Education Connection and is an advisor/member of School CIO.
