The current winter storm has postponed the following events on Saturday, Dec. 17:

Prescott Elementary School will host its annual Soup Luncheon fundraiser on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the school. The event will also feature a silent auction for attendees.
The recommended donation is $15 and tickets can be reserved in person at the school office or by calling the main office at (563)552-4200. Tickets are also available at the door the day of the event.

The Dubuque Community School District has released draft calendars for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school year. The district Board of Education will host a public hearing about the calendar on January 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Forum, 2300 Chaney Road.

Kindergartners from Carver Elementary School participated in their own election today — voting for their favorite pet.
Complete with a platform of issues, each candidate presented their case and students headed to the polls. Just like at real polling places, the students signed in (which is good writing practice!) and verified their address (another important thing to know!).
Then, they headed to the voting booth to cast their ballot. Today, these young students learned a lesson about our democracy and reinforced skills they are learning each day. In the end, everyone was a winner!
